Asian Parliamentarians Forum (PDF, 155kb)

Parliamentarians and other senior decision makers are compelled to take on an active role in the management of change within their communities, specifically where ICT is used for development. The Asian Parliamentarians Forum facilitates awareness among Asian lawmakers of the role of ICT today.

 

e-Primers (PDF, 187kb)

e-Primers for the Information Economy, Society, and Polity aim to provide policy makers and opinion leaders in developing countries with a clear understanding of the various terminologies, definitions, trends and issues surrounding the information economy, as well as specific implications of ICT for their societies.

 

Free/Open Source Software (PDF, 255kb)

Free/Open Source Software (FOSS) presents itself as an access solution for developing countries. It represents an opportunity for these countries to adopt cheaper software and solutions toward bridging the digital divide. In line with APDIP’s goals of improving access to developing countries, a Center of Excellence for FOSS has been created for information sharing and networking among FOSS specialists and others in the region and beyond.

 

Open Regional Dialogue on Internet Governance (PDF, 92kb)

Established in October 2004 with kind support from the International Development Research Centre, UNDP-APDIP's Open Regional Dialogue on Internet Governance aims at making Internet policy-making more responsive to development concerns and the needs of all stakeholders in the Asia-Pacific. The brochure provides some background on Internet governance, introduced the main components of the initiatives and outlines options for involvement and participation.

 

Regional Human Development Report (PDF, 217kb)

The Regional Human Development Report entitled Promoting ICT for Human Development in Asia: Realizing the Millennium Development Goals is a product of a partnership between UNDP-APDIP and the Asia-Pacific RHDR Initiative (APRI) located at the Human Development Resource Centre (HDRC).

     
 

Pan Asia ICT R&D Grants (PDF, 56kb)

The Pan Asia ICT R&D Grants Programme has the objective of building institutional research capacity in the developing countries of the Asia-Pacific region, in the area of Internet networking. It is directed at encouraging original and innovative networking solutions to specific development problems.

This three-volume series on ICT Policies and e-Strategies is focused on three areas: an analytical overview of the ICT policies and e-strategies in the region; fundamentals of policy formulation and the development process; and the thematic priority areas to be addressed in the conceptualization and development of policies.

 

ICT4D Sourcebook for Parliamentarians (PDF, 262kb)

This Sourcebook, intended for parliamentarians and policy-makers, acknowledges the varying needs of both groups in different geographic, social, economic and political environments. It thus seeks to provide a broad overview of ICTs and their use as powerful tools for accelerating social and economic development.

Digital Review of Asia Pacific (PDF, 382kb)

The Digital Review of Asia Pacific provides a quick overview of how ICTs are being deployed across 28 economies in the region to facilitate socioeconomic development. Thirty authors, who live and work in the region, contributed towards the researching and writing of the 28 chapters (27 chapters on individual economies and one regional chapter on the Pacific Islands which covers 14 islands) found in the book.
