Free/Open Source Software Asia-Pacific 2004: The consultation is designed to provide an effective policy-level platform for the exchange of information and experiences in the use of Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) for development. Many countries, especially in the Asia-Pacific, have questions and uncertainties on the use of FOSS for development. There is a growing need for awareness raising on the benefits of FOSS, assistance with formulation of national policies, and case studies of FOSS implementation. The consultation is designed to assist policy makers with these different issues.

ICT R&D Grants Programme for Asia-Pacific: March 2005 Competition Round: The ICT R&D Grants Programme is pleased to announce the March 2005 Competition round for ICT R&D grant applicants from the Asia Pacific region.

APDIP Session @ Apricot 2005 / APNIC 19 in partnership with Internet Governance Task Force of Japan, Kyoto, Japan, 22 February 2005: This panel debate aims to contribute to a bridging of this gap by soliciting the view of technology practitioners in the Asia-Pacific on the regulatory needs and priorities for emerging Internet technologies and technical challenges.

A Sourcebook for Parliamentarians: This Sourcebook intended for parliamentarians and policy makers provide a broad overview of ICTs and their use as powerful tools for accelerating social and economic development. It provides tools and Asia-Pacific examples on key issues such as ICT-related policies, the role of government and members of parliament in planning and implementing ICT for development, open standards and open source, and monitoring and evaluation of ICT initiatives.

Asia-Pacific 2004 Public Services Summit: Connectivity and Competitiveness - New Models for e-Government in China, Asia-Pacific, and the World, 15 - 16 July 2004: UNDP-Asia Pacific Development Information Programme together with China's State Council Informatization Office (SCITO), Cisco Systems and UNDP China organised a high-level e-Government conference to share best practices between China, Asia Pacific, and the world on 15-16 July 2004 in Beijing, China.

Open Regional Dialogue on Internet Governance: The Open Regional Dialogue on Internet Governance (ORDIG) is an initiative created to understand governance priorities in the Asia-Pacific region, and provide Asia-Pacific perspectives to the United Nations Working Group on Internet Governance (UNWGIG) and the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS).

UNDP-APDIP ICT4D Series: The UNDP-APDIP ICT4D Series comprises publications on specific applications of ICT policies and its impact in accelerating social and economic development.

FOSSAP Consultation: FOSSAP Consultation attended by participants from 20 countries

APDIP-Cisco Networking Academies: APDIP and Cisco Systems, Inc., successfully completed their three-year programme to bring Internet education to students in developing countries in the Asia Pacific region. They surpassed the original goal to set-up ten Cisco Networking Academies in nine developing countries in the region and have since established seventeen academies that have trained over 400 students.

ICT-focused Regional Human Development Report (RHDR): The RHDR explores linkages between ICT and the human development objectives of the UN Millennium Development Goals.

Asian Forum on Information and Communication Technology Policies and e-Strategies, 20-22 October 2003: Given the inadequate policy support, comparatively higher access costs, and absence and relevant content on the Internet, one is beginning to see a growing rural-urban digital divide. The Asian Forum is to address; and share knowledge on national ICT Policies and e-Strategies.

e-Awareness Seminar Series for Asian Parliamentarians (e-ASSAP): The project seeks to raise awareness of Members of Parliament who are responsible for making decisions on the allocation of resources, and endorsing ICT for Development initiatives.

Programmer Officers/Focal Points Workshop (POW I): Workshop for UNDP Country Office ICT Programme Officers/Focal Points in Asia-Pacific.

Building Synergies and Partnerships for ICT Development in Asia-Pacific: A workshop was organized as a brainstorming session among donors where not only regional needs, priorities, strategies, and approaches to the development of the ICT sector in the region were debated, but also common interests and synergies identified.
