Workshops on Capacity Building in Public Policy Issues of Internet Use for Business Development in Asia and the Pacific
- A regional workshop was held on 18-20 October 2006 in Bangkok followed by two national workshops in Nepal and Bangladesh on 22-24 November 2006 and 27-29 November 2006, respectively, to conceptualize, develop and deliberate on policy issues relating to Internet use for business development.

Linux System Administrator Training of Trainers, Bangkok, Thailand, 28 August – 9 September 2006
- A major barrier against adoption and deployment of free and open source software (FOSS) in developing countries is the lack of human resources with FOSS skills. This introductory programme aims to address the problem by training trainers so that they can train others in their countries, and therefore kick-start a self-sustaining development of FOSS human resources. This course introduces Linux trainers to training with open content Linux system administration training materials and low-cost LPI certification examinations.

Regional Conference on Open Standards: The Key to an Open ICT Ecosystem, Bangkok, Thailand, 2-4 May 2006
- National Electronics and Computer Technology Center (NECTEC), in cooperation with Software Industry Promotion Agency (SIPA), Ministry of Information and Communication Technology; IBM (Thailand); Intel (Thailand); Oracle (Thailand); Cisco (Thailand), and APDIP, organized a Regional Conference on Open Standards: The Key to an Open ICT Ecosystem, on 2-4 May 2006, at the Sofitel Central Plaza Hotel, Bangkok, Thailand.

Children of Tsunami: A Regional Communications Initiative
- Children of Tsunami is a regional communications initiative tracking how ordinary people rebuild lives and livelihoods after the Asian Tsunami Disaster. This is an initiative of TVE Asia Pacific and APDIP is a partner. The films can now be downloaded online.

Regional Workshop on Asia-Pacific E-Government Initiatives, Bangkok, Thailand, 24-25 April 2006
- As part of the project entitled "Capacity Building of Asia Pacific e-Government Initiatives," APDIP, UNDP's Asia Regional Governance Programme and the United Nation Centre for Regional Development (UNCRD) jointly organized a regional workshop in Bangkok, Thailand on 24-25 April 2006 to review and disuss 20 case studies from 12 different Asia-Pacific countries. This workshop was held back-to-back with egov Asia 2006, the Asian e-government conference, and at the same venue in Rama Gardens Hotel and Resort in Bangkok.

Television Productions on HIV/AIDS From 11 Countries Available Rights-Free
- Completed productions of "Think Positive: The Asian Face of HIV/AIDS" are available for exchange between the participating broadcasters as well as being made available rights-free to all Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) members and other broadcasters.

Workshop on Mapping Gender in the Information Society, Bangkok, Thailand, 31 October 2005

New 2005/2006 Edition of the Digital Review of Asia Pacific Launched
- The new and updated edition of the Digital Review of Asia Pacific contains authoritative reports on how 29 economies/countries are using ICT in business, government and civil society written by senior authors who live and work in the region. Included are three subregional chapters on the Pacific Island States, ASEAN and APEC.

IPv6 Tunnel Broker: A Key for Using Next Generation Internet in Developing Countries
- Grant awarded in November 2005 to National Electronics and Computer Technology Centre (NECTEC), Thailand to to develop a semi-automatic IPv6 tunnel configuration system with a goal to connect isolated end users to IPv6 networks in a simple, convenient manner. Such system, usually called “IPv6 tunnel broker”, shall automatically allocate and configure public IPv6 addresses to end users’ computers regardless of whether a user has a public or private IPv4 address. In addition, the proposed IPv6 tunnel broker system shall provide secure authentication process and support a variety of client’s platforms.

- Grant awarded in November 2005 to Internet Education and Research Laboratory (IntERLab), Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand to develop a system to provide remote mobile classroom facilities using SIP technology.

Automatic Synchronization and Distribution of Biological Databases over Low-Bandwidth Networks among Developing Countries
- Grant awarded in November 2005 to Centre for Genomics and Bioinformatics Research, Prince of Songkhla University, Thailand to research, implement, and test a next generation automatic biological software, courseware, and database distribution and synchronization network based on Peer-to-Peer technology, for developing countries in the Asia-Pacific region with low-bandwidth Internet links.

It serves as a one-stop reference source on the state-of-practice and future trends in ICTs for development and ICTs for industry for policy- and decision-makers, technology practitioners and experts, researchers, and educators in the region.
