FOSSAP 2005

Free/Open Source Software Asia-Pacific 2004

FOSS: Network Infrastructure and Security
- FOSS server applications are considered more reliable and perform better than their proprietary equivalents and their use is growing in setting up network infrastructure. This primer will include reasons for this growth, sample software used and case studies of FOSS implementations for network infrastructure.

Free And Open Source Software Licensing Primer
- This primer is an introductory summary of licensing issues involved with using the different FOSS licenses, primarily the GNU GPL license. It offers several scenarios, and proposes a framework for licensing of government sponsored software. The primer also addresses common questions and misconceptions regarding copyright and licensing issues.

FOSS Government Policy Primer
- This particular primer surveys the motivations of other countries in implementing FOSS, summarizes the steps involved in formulating a policy, lists some possible strategies to use in implementing the policy and finally touches on cross-sectoral issues unique to FOSS policies. Its target audience are the policy-makers who set national policies and their advisers.
