Project Description
A pilot e-Governance project, WebCITI provides a citizen-IT interface for various district administration services in Fatehgarh Sahib in Punjab. These include issuance of certificates, licenses, etc. It was further augmented by DialCITI (Dialup based Citizen-IT Interface)

Project Objectives
The major aims of the project are to bring district administration closer to the masses and offering effective and speedy services. Its secondary objectives include providing transparent, cost-effective, speedy and efficient services to the public. Another objective is to provide a single window for government services at the district level.

Intended Beneficiaries
It is directed at providing citizens with an easy and convenient way of accessing the services of the district administration.

Partners Involved
Sponsored by the Department of Information Technology and the Government of Punjab, WebCITI was executed by the National Informatics Centre.

Impact: Costs and Benefits
WebCITI was successfully implemented and led to a sharp rise in revenue collection.

Lessons Learned
Making the user interface available in the local language greatly aids project adoption.

Sustainability Factors
Project supported by the government.

Recommendations
Could be replicated in other districts.
