Decentralization of the offices of the National Bureau of Investigation.

Project Description
The project aimed to bring the government closer to the people by setting up nationwide offices.

Project Objectives
In order to reduce the long queues and make clearance procedures convenient for everybody, it was decided to set up regional offices all over the Philippines.

Intended Beneficiaries
The project was directed at providing the public with an easier way of obtaining NBI clearances.

Partners Involved
Mega Data, the NBI's computer service provider, was responsible for implementing the project.

Impact: Costs and Benefits
Time taken to process clearances was drastically reduced as they were released the same day. It has also led to a two-fold increase in revenue and helped weed out corruption.

Constraints/Challenges
Any project which handles a public delivery system can run on a self-sustainable basis. People are willing to pay as long as they get the desired level of service.

Recommendations
It is proposed that in the future, the NBI website will be able to provide clearances to people in their homes.
