The APT and the World Bank jointly organized a “Seminar on Leveraging Private Investment for Rural ICT Development” at Dusit Island Resort Hotel in Chiang Rai, Thailand, from 5 to 7 July 2005. APDIP presented a paper on "Rural ICTS: Scaling up the Successes."
The seminar discussed the following issues among others:
- ICT Infrastructure in Rural Areas in Asia Pacific
- Encouraging Investment in the Rural ICT Sector
- Multi-Sectoral Partnership for Promoting Private Sector Investment
- Role of Banking and Financing Sectors in Rural ICT Development
- Promoting ICT Applications in Rural Areas
- Universal Service Obligation and other Funding Mechanisms
