APDIP brought together a distinguished panel of experts for a discussion on "Software for Development: Is Free/Open Source Software the Answer?" at the World Summit on the Information Society in Tunis on 18 November 2005. This is APDIP's feature event at the second World Summit for the Information Society (WSIS) in Tunis November 2005. The video shows the panel discussion led by key figures in ICT4D and FOSS, including, Robert Kramer of ComTIA, Louis-Dominique Ouedraogo of UN Joint Inspection Unit, Bruce Perens of Sourcelabs, Inc., Mark Shuttleworth of Ubuntu Foundation, Richard Stallman of Free Software Foundation and Shane Wall of Intel Corporation. Kenneth Cukier of The Economist moderated the event.

This event was organized by the International Open Source Network (IOSN), an initiative of APDIP, with support from the International Development Research Centre (IDRC) of Canada; and in partnership with the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), and the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR).
