UNDP-APDIP Held Government Interoperability Frameworks Workshop and Study Group Meeting
- BEIJING, 20 April 2007 - United Nations Development Programme – Asia-Pacific Development Information Programme (UNDP-APDIP), in partnership with IBM and Oracle held the Government Interoperability Frameworks (GIF) Workshop and Study Group Meeting at the Beijing International Hotel on 18-20 April 2007. The event was hosted by the Chinese Government’s State Council Informatization Office (SCITO).

Commissioner Lallana to Lead UNDPs Project to Promote Policies for Open Computing Standards in Asia-Pacific Countries
- Monday, 12 February 2007. Dr. Emmanuel C. Lallana, former Commissioner of the Philippines Commission on Information and Communications Technology joined UNDP Asia-Pacific Development Information Programme (UNDP-APDIP) as Project Adviser of the Government Interoperability Frameworks (GIFs) Project.

APDIP Shares Knowledge and Lessons Learned from 56 ICT for Development Projects in the Asia-Pacific Region
- The Pan-Asia ICT R&D Grants Programme for Asia-Pacific is directed at encouraging original and innovative information and communications technology solutions to development problems. This publication reviews and analyzes 56 projects from 14 different countries funded by the Programme between 2002-2005. Projects are focused on access to information and communication; capacity building and education; policy and social research; technical innovation; environment and agriculture; and health and medicine.

UNDP, IBM and Oracle to Help Asia-Pacific Countries Create Strategies and Policies for Adopting Open Computing Standards
- BANGKOK, 19 December 2006 - United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), IBM and Oracle today announced a joint research initiative to help Asia-Pacific countries share and create strategies, blueprints and policies for adopting the right blend of open standards and technology services. The goal will be for more countries to develop universally compatible applications and networks to make internal and external government services and transactions more automatic, affordable and efficient.

APDIP Releases New Publication on Gender in the Information Society
- This publication is a collection of 13 papers developed for a pre-World Summit on the Information Society seminar, produced in partnership with UNIFEM and IT for Change. It showcases perspectives that critique the engagement with new technologies in various development sectors such as the governance, media and work.

ICTD and e-Governance Community of Practice Meeting, Tallinn, Estonia, 4-8 December 2006
- The UNDP Regional Centre Bangkok (RCB), UNDP Bratislava Regional Centre (BRC) and the e-Governance Academy of Estonia are organizing the first joint Asia-Pacific and Europe-CIS inter-regional ICTD/e-Governance Community of Practice meeting for UNDP Programme Staff, government counterparts, representatives of the business community and civil society. It will be held in Tallinn, Estonia between 4 and 8 December 2006.

Workshops on Capacity Building in Public Policy Issues of Internet Use for Business Development in Asia and the Pacific
- A regional workshop was held on 18-20 October 2006 in Bangkok followed by two national workshops in Nepal and Bangladesh on 22-24 November 2006 and 27-29 November 2006, respectively, to conceptualize, develop and deliberate on policy issues relating to Internet use for business development.

Policy Dialogue on Open Standards
- APDIP led a policy dialogue on open standards at the Regional Conference on Open Standards in Bangkok, Thailand on 2 and 4 May 2006. 54 participants representing 13 countries from government, the private sector, academia and civil society openly discussed and share practices, and came to some common understanding and possible future collaborations.

- National Electronics and Computer Technology Center (NECTEC), in cooperation with Software Industry Promotion Agency (SIPA), Ministry of Information and Communication Technology; IBM (Thailand); Intel (Thailand); Oracle (Thailand); Cisco (Thailand), and APDIP, organized a Regional Conference on Open Standards: The Key to an Open ICT Ecosystem, on 2-4 May 2006, at the Sofitel Central Plaza Hotel, Bangkok, Thailand.

egov Asia 2006, Bangkok, Thailand, 26-28 April 2006
- egov Asia 2006, the Asian e-Government conference was held on 26-28 April 2006 at the Rama Gardens Hotel and Resort in Bangkok, Thailand. This event organized by the Centre for Science, Development and Media Studies (CSDMS) and GIS Development highlighted e-government trends and strategies in Asia.

Regional Workshop on Asia-Pacific E-Government Initiatives, Bangkok, Thailand, 24-25 April 2006
- As part of the project entitled "Capacity Building of Asia Pacific e-Government Initiatives," APDIP, UNDP's Asia Regional Governance Programme and the United Nation Centre for Regional Development (UNCRD) jointly organized a regional workshop in Bangkok, Thailand on 24-25 April 2006 to review and disuss 20 case studies from 12 different Asia-Pacific countries. This workshop was held back-to-back with egov Asia 2006, the Asian e-government conference, and at the same venue in Rama Gardens Hotel and Resort in Bangkok.
