The National Institute of Public Administration (INTAN) is the training arm of the Public Service Department. INTAN is the only institute in the country that offers training opportunities to all categories of civil servants both federal and state levels. INTAN Trains more than 40,000 personnel through some1,00 courses and seminars each year. Refer INTAN's website for details.

The Malaysian Government has provided strong financial support for training activities in INTAN and also physical facilities necessary for effective training. These include well-equipped classrooms, hostels and dining facilities, library, printing services and sports facilities such as golf green, swimming pool, tennis courts, and squash courts.

INTAN works closely with international organizations such as UNDP, Asian Development Bank, ESCAP, UNICEF, Asia Pacific Development Coorperation, JICA and CIDA.

ACCOMODATION
All rooms are equipped with air-condition units, attached bathrooms with hot and cold shower and TV. Tea and coffee making facilities are also provided, while hot water can be obtained from the dining hall and at the TV lounge in the hostel block. Please fill in the maintenance report slip if you encounter problems with respects to these facilities.

TELEPHONES
Long distance calls and international direct dialing cannot be made from the hostel rooms. Please contact the telephone operators for this purpose. Payments should be made to the operator as soon as possible.

There are several public phones available in INTAN. A credit card phone is located on the ground floor of the Dining Hall and several other places in the hostel block. Card phones using Telecom or Uniphone cards are available on the ground floor of Block A and Block E and at the PRE premises. Phone cards are available at the Book Shop and Mini Mart.

Your family back home can reach you by the extension number of your room by dialing 603 250 xxxx followed by the extension number. e.g. if the extension number in your room is 6762, the number to be called is 603 250 6762.

SPORTS AND RECREATIONAL FACILITIES
Facilities for sports and recreational activities such as swimming pool, sauna baths, tennis, table tennis, squash and gymnasium are available. Please contact the Sports Unit section at extension 6833 if you want to use these services. However, certain rules pertaining to swimming pool use need to be observe.

SHOPPING
There several shopping areas near INTAN including the Damansara Town Centre, Bangsar Town Centre, Mid-Valley Megamall and One Utama. Taxi fare for those places are about RM4.00.

TAXI SERVICES
One way taxi fare to the shopping centres in town is around RM10.00 (US$2.65). Service for taxi can be booked through the telephone operator. An additional RM1.00 will be charged for radio call taxis through the telephone.

LAUNDRY
A free self service laundry is available on the fourth floor of the hostel block. If you are unsure of how to operate the washing machines, please seek assistance from the hostel supervisors. You may also use the ironing facilities near the laundry rooms on the fourth floor. There are separate facilities for men and ladies. Please contact the receptionist if you require paid laundry services.

BOOK SHOP
Souvenirs, stamps and telephone cards are available at the bookshop, next to the INTAN cafeteria.

MINI MARKET
Sundry items cab be bought from the mini market located at the parking area behind Block E.

MEALS
Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served at the Dining Hall at the following times;

Breakfast 7:00am to 8:00am
Lunch 12.30pm - 1:30pm and 12.00pm-1.30pm (Fridays only)
Dinner 7.00-8.30pm

Please abide by the dining room dress code. Slippers, T-Shirts without collars and shorts are not allowed in the dining room.

On lecture days, mid-morning and afternoon tea are served at "Balai Kasturi" adjacent to Block "C". Shuttle service is provided to the dining hall during lunch hour for those who require it.

COMPUTER FACILITIES
Computer are available at level 4 of the hostels. The key can be collected from the counter at Kiara Point.
