Tan Sri Nuraizah Abdul Hamid began her career in the public service as an assistant secretary in the Cabinet division of the Prime Minister's Department.
From there she has progressed and held various prominent positions in the Government, namely as Director of Social Development Division, ICU, in the Prime Minister's Department, the Under-Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture, Director of the Public Service Department and a the Deputy Secretary General 1 with the Ministry of Education.
On June 1st 1996, Tan Sri Nuraizah was appointed as the Secretary General of the Energy, Communications and Multimedia Ministry until 31st October 2000, when she became Chairman of the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission, her current post.
She was also on the Board of Directors of Tenaga Nasional Berhad, Telekom Malaysia Berhad, Pos Malaysia Berhad, Multimedia Development Corporation and Malaysia-Thailand Joint-Authority. She holds a B.A (Hons) from Universiti Malaya and Masters of Public Administration from the American University, Washington D.C. She also attended a Senior Management Program at the New Zealand Staff Training Institute in 1984 and the Advanced Management Programme at Harvard Business School in 1997.
Tan Sri Nuraizah was also very much involved in initiating legislation for the convergence under the Communications and Multimedia Act, which was enforced in 1998.
