Partially developed:

  • Provide email and Internet access services to the government
  • Development of a centralised helpdesk and workshop services
  • Provide data connectivity within capital and all the districts.
  • Provide backup and disaster recovery services to government departments

NO

Yes with emphasis that women should be more involved on ICT matters.

Women  are being encouraged to be in the fore-front in the implementation stages of ICT projects. Create ICT centers that shall be managed by women. For example open up an ICT Center in the rural areas which is fully managed by women and addresses issue that affect women mostly
 

Does the Government have an official policy on Open Source Software?

NO

No policy as yet though some of the open sources software are in use

 


Access

How is the Government addressing the issue of equitable access to ICT for all of its citizens, especially marginalized groups and those in rural communities?

Initial focus is government offices
·         Government offices in the districts
·         Private TeleCom to provide internet acccess to the citizens
·         Creation of information hubs through information hubs
 

What is the Government planning to do to increase local connectivity to the Internet?

·         Partnership with UNDP in providing gateway
·         TeleCom company to provide second gateway

·         The finance department has installed an online treasury billing system
·         The Customs department (Foreign affairs) has an online systems that assists on registration of business and collection of tax.
