Partner - Global Knowledge Partnership (GKP)

GKP is the main partner in the eASSAP seminar series.

The Global Knowledge Partnership (GKP) is the world’s first global multistakeholder partnership in ICT for development (ICT4D). As a “network of networks”, its diverse membership base comprises public, private and not-for-profit organisations from both developing and developed countries.

The GKP provides a platform for networking, knowledge-sharing, advocacy and collaborations. It strives towards influencing global ICT4D policies to ensure they address the needs and views of the disadvantaged. It aims to increase efficiency and effectiveness of its members through enhanced coordination, reduced duplication and increased synergies. It also aims to make more contextualised and relevant knowledge available to those working in ICT4D.

An elected nine-member executive committee (EXCOMM) advises the GKP on strategy and policy, and oversees the work of the Secretariat. The EXCOMM holds a two-year term. The Chair of the EXCOMM for 2001-2003 is the government of Switzerland, represented by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).

The GKP Secretariat supports the EXCOMM, coordinates GKP activities and implements the GKP Work Programme. The Secretariat for 2001-2003 is hosted by the National Information Technology Council (NITC) of Malaysia. Providing overall support and advice to the EXCOMM on membership matters is the Membership Committee, which leads in member recruitment and selection.
