Opened in the 70s, SMK Sri Muda currently has 1787 students and 94 teachers.

This co-ed school serves the community of Penaga and Seberang Perai Utara, a mainly fishing community of 15,000 people. Almost all the students are from the rural areas and low income families.

At present, the school is equipped with 40 computers with Internet connection. MS Office is being taught on a regular basis to students of Form 1 and 2 on a biweekly basis. The school also has an active Computer Club which has 80 members. The membership fee is RM10 per term.

The success of SMK Sri Muda in introducing ICT in school activities is largely due to the support of the PTA, community and the teachers.
