Abstract of Project
The purpose of the project is to eliminate barriers between manufacturers of agricultural production and buyers by creating automatic Internet and mobile communication-based exchange system of offers on purchase / sale with application for inhabitants of rural regions.
Distribution of 75 cellular telephones will be made on tender basis among the credit unions of 25 villages of Issyk-Kul region selected for participation in the project during needs assessment. Each credit union will nominate an operator to keep a handset and use it for the needs of farmers.
Project is entirely research-centered. Research activities include both marketing and social research and technological R&D component. Major beneficiaries include farmers, processing enterprises, Kyrgyz government Procurement Committee.
The project plan presupposes two sources of financial sustainability for the project: selfgenerated revenues and donations from private companies and government.
Project timeline is 15 months. Some 73% out of 50K of $US project budget is secured by proponent and partnering organizations.
Proponent, Foundation For Information Assistance, is one of the largest Kyrgyz research and consulting agencies, which already worked with PanAsia in 2000-2001, when implementing project, titled marketing Internet market in Kyrgyzstan .
