Project Abstract

Text to speech (TTS) conversion tool has become one of the most important software in today’s information society. It promotes use of personal computers in many different ways. One of such application is TTS software for visually impaired people. In today’s world it is quite difficult to run a business without using personal computers, however visually impaired people in Mongolia have no TTS software to aid them to participate in the knowledge network. So far no effort has been put in to address this problem in Mongolia. There is a great need to develop a text to speech converter tool with simple human computerinterface in local language to meet needs of visually impaired people and to put foundation for various TTS applications.

The proposed project aims to develop Mongolian TTS converter and a simple human computer interface that is suitable for visually impaired people. Dozen of latest research findings and tools available in the internet will investigated and if possible best utilized. One of such initiative is the MBROLA project.
