Election and Profile of the Participants

Document Actions

Number of participants:

The Seminar will engage between six and eight participants, covering one or two countries, depending on the number of participants proposed by the country office. The options are as follows:

  1. 5 to 7 national counterparts and 1 focal point from one country, which would allow for the Seminar to focus on country-specific issues; and,
  2. 3 national counterparts and 1 focal point from two countries so that the participants could exchange experience from their respective context.

Selection of participants:

The UNDP Country Office will recommend participants from counterpart institutions who would have to meet the profile criteria as described below. The recommendation should describe briefly the reasons for the selection and include the following information for each participant:

  1. Name of Participant;
  2. Official Title;
  3. Organisation/Institution;
  4. Type of activities of the organisation/institution;
  5. Summary of current functions/areas of responsibility of the participant;
  6. Passport number;
  7. Date of issue;
  8. Date of expiry; and,
  9. Date of birth.

Participants' Profile:

Government officials, national counterparts, NGOs’ representatives

  1. Having managerial position in non-technical capacity;
  2. Involved in development and/or planning activities in their country;
  3. Having a strong interest in learning how IT can be implemented in support of development activities; and,
  4. In a position to promote the use of IT through direct interventions, assessment or advisory role.

The APDIP Focal Point:

The role of the APDIP Focal Point will be critical to ensure the appropriate linkage of the IT proposals with UNDP activities in the country. Therefore, the focal point should have a strong knowledge of the UNDP programme portfolio and programming procedures, which would enable him or her to lead the discussion during the last session of the Seminar, and assist in the identification of IT initiatives within the context of UNDP’s activities.
