Building Synergies and Partnerships for ICT Development in Asia-Pacific
In recognition of the need to develop partnerships amongst the various institutions in the region to further regional and national use of ICTs as a tool to reduce poverty, enhance governance and attain a good level of sustainable human development, UNDP's Asia Pacific Development Information Programme (APDIP), hosted a one day workshop on "Building Synergies and Partnership for ICT Development in Asia-Pacific."
The workshop was organized as a brainstorming session where not only regional needs, priorities, strategies, and approaches to the development of the ICT sector in the region can be debated, but also common interests and synergies identified. Further, the meeting, as per consultations with the ECOSOC Secretariat for the Secretary General's ICT Task Force, provided regional input and feedback to the Task Force's consultative meetings in New York, September 2001.
