Connecting Timor-Leste to the World

With a legacy of repression and violence, East Timor (Timor-Leste) is a destroyed country. Faced with the challenged of rebuilding newly independant nation, the development community needed communication and information tools to help facilitate and co-ordinate efforts of the United Nations and the donor community.

In assisting with reconstruction, APDIP partners with the UNDP Country Offi ce of Timor-Leste provided Internet connectivity to the government, development agencies, and civil society. The self-sustaining project continued on for a number of years, providing much needed access to information for stakeholders and becomes a vehicle for building technical capacity for the government.
