The aim of this project is to improve rural poor's access to technical and market information by creating information and communications centres. Established in five pilot areas in China, the centres provide rural communities with access to information on agricultural and health care concerns.

Asia Pacific Public Services Summit 2004, Beijing, China, 15-16 July 2004
The objective of this Summit is to provide a platform for government leaders, decision makers and policy developers, to exchange views on policies and strategies, and practices and experiences, in order to stimulate economic and social development through ICTs in the Asia-Pacific region and worldwide. It is also to promote inter-country, regional and international cooperation, particularly south-south cooperation, and, accordingly, to bridge the digital divide of the world.
Poverty Reduction through ICT in Western China
Develop a model using traditional and modern ICT means for poverty reduction in most remote rural areas in western China.
Support for National E-Strategy in China
Technical assistance in the preparation of a comprehensive and integrated national e-strategy, in particular to bring all sectors and line ministries in the development and application of ICT.
Using Distance Education and ICT to Improve Teacher Quality in Nine Poor Counties of Three Western Provinces in China
This project aims to promote educational equity and improve teachers’ quality at the primary level in three western provinces of China through delivery of high-quality, distance teacher training for 20,000 in-service teachers in poor rural communities in nine selected counties of Gansu, Sichuan and Yunnan provinces.
China: Customs
In partnership with the State Customs Administration of China, UNDP supported China Customs in introducing a Customs Automation and Information Management System which led to increased efficiency of customs services and standardized customs management.
