Achievements

These innovative initiatives will demonstrate sustainable and replicable models of using ICT for improving service delivery; how local self governments can use information technology to enhance participation, their management capabilities, accountability; how ICT can enhance livelihoods; and how it can enable women’s empowerment and improve their information access.

The ICT for Development programme is trying to catalyse a multi-stakeholder partnership to discuss and identify such innovative initiatives.  At the same time the project will encourage knowledge management through stock-taking of lessons learned and knowledge networking.

  • Nine e-governance pilots have been initiated in partnership with State Governments and NGOs in different states for improving access to information and services, and participation through integrated service delivery, rural governance including access to justice and e-procurement, rural livelihoods and women’s empowerment.
  • An e-governance gateway <http://www.nisg.e-govgateway> has been launched by NISG under this programme.
  • Documentation to deepen the knowledge base on issues of replication and scaling up the successes in ICTD initiatives has started.
