Legal Awareness through Community Radio

The purpose of the project is to use the medium of community radio to create legal awareness among marginalised communities; to help provide communities an alternate forum of dispute resolution; to sensitise communities on human rights issues; to initiate research and advocacy on legal regime for mass media; and to help empower marginalised sections of society by providing legal aid services.

Achievements

  1. Legal awareness tools and programmes developed and launched through community radio.
  2. Training programmes for legal capacity building of CBOs carried out.
  3. Legal aid outreach activities of multiple community organizations strengthened through enhanced and more focused cooperation between legal aid providers.
  4. Platforms for dialogue between disadvantaged people and policy makers, government officials, media and multiple justice actors around access to justice issues built.
  5. Community mobilized around developing long term strategies to overcome barriers to achieving access to justice (including advocacy campaigns).
