IT for Sustainable Human Development

Page Tools
The IT for Sustainable Human Development Project aims to catalyze implementation of a number of pilots in deprived local communities in both rural and semi-urban areas.

Activities include:

  • set up ICT Centres
  • link local primary schools with application service providers at the central education level (called "school net")
  • experiment with local application service provision based on local needs
  • operationalize an "Internet bus" service in the localities; develop local community ICT-use capabilities
  • link local community ICT systems to labour market statistics collection, market information and job creation
  • establish linkages to national-level ICT systems and central-level planners
  • incorporate new sustainable human development modalities into national policy for improved budgetary allocations and targeting
  • new national ICT plan to explicitly include ICT for sustainable human development
