MyGfL is a national e-Learning initiative to promote and support the lifelong learning agenda in Malaysia to accelerate the growth of K-Society through the use of ICT. The concept and the working paper for the development of MyGfL has been endorsed and fully supported by the Prime Minister of Malaysia YAB Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.
MyGfL Goals
- To provide e-Learning systems and tools to enable and support e-Learning activities and processes for the purpose of life-long learning
- Bringing together all relevant players in the e-learning ecosystem (learners, enablers & providers) to participate in the overall e-Learning value chain and be part of the national learning grid.
- To develop e-learning standards to ensure conformance and adoption of best practices in e-learning content and systems
- To encourage sharing and development of local/indigenous content, thus stimulating content industry.
Achievements
The Ministry of Education developed formal learning content while the Ministry of Human Resources provided an inventory of online courses. The National Library provided an inventory of e-learning resources while MIMOS Bhd developed the technical and content guidelines besides developing the MyGfL integrating platform.
In 2003, MyGfL received funding under the Malaysian Government’s Demonstrator Application Grant Scheme (DAGS).
