Replication of People First Network (PFnet) to Bougainville
The project will work on two levels. Downstream (focus area): Provide rural communities with affordable communication opportunities (radio email to effectively improve their livelihoods. Upstream: Actively stimulate ICT policy work through in-country technical ICT experience and presence together with increased awareness on the usage of ICT’s and its application for national development. This project is implemented by national NGOs, UNDP Fiji Multi-Country Office and UNDP Papua New Guinea.

Expected Outputs/Outcomes
- Project formulated and appraised in close consultation with partners and stakeholders.
- Affordable and sustainable ICT access increased in rural, remote Pacific Islands Communities through establishment of email stations and revenue generating Internet Centre.
- Recruitment and capacity building of local project staff and rural email station communities.
- Actively stimulate national ICT Policy and Strategy development and dialogue.
- Increased national awareness of national stakeholders on the enabling role of ICT’s in rural development, gender, health & Small and Medium Enterprise Development.
- Development of partnerships and development of innovative national development project proposals.
