UNDP-Bisyon Partnership for Anti-Corruption
The partnership provides invaluable support to anti-corruption activities of both government and non-governmental organizations in projects.
Projects included:
- citizen information
- education and communication (IEC) campaigns and materials on anti-corruption
- policy review
- institutional reforms
- government project monitoring and watchdog function by citizenry
- use of information and communication technology (ICT) for increased transparency in government transactions
- building coalitions and broad constituencies for reviewing and monitoring government transactions and performance
- ethics development among public service institutions
- baseline action research, analytical studies, and publications on needs assessment and best practices on good governance reform initiatives
Achievements
- National and local consultations with media organizations and networks were undertaken which produced governance stories that would be used as reportage models for other journalists
- Stories were published or aired then later compiled into a book that served as a manual for journalists
- Produced one-hour TV documentary on journalists' killings using governance and human rights frame
- Strengthened network of media in governance (through e-groups, regular fora, alliance building both local and regional)
- Crafted recommendations for national forum on media governance and media in governance.
- Initiative on Media in Governance led by the Center for Community Journalism and Development (CCJD) assessed how media practitioners can take part in governance and in pursuit of governance reforms
- Developed a framework for media engagement in governance reform
- Reached a deeper understanding of the state of governance and the state of media at the local level
- Redefined the participative media-multi-sector roles in governance
