Global Compact - Philippine Local Network
Project Period: 2006
Partner(s): Employers Confederation of the Philippines (ECOP), Local Network Secretariat Instituition
To achieve the objective, the Global Compact offers facilitation and engagement through several mechanisms: Policy Dialogues, Learning, Country/Regional Networks, and Projects. The Global Compact is an important framework for initiating and building action-oriented relationships between business and other sectors, including governments, civil society and the UN, in support of numerous development challenges.
The activities of the Philippine Local Network include awareness and orientation seminars on the Global Compact and training of trainers on its ten principles. In the implementation of these activities, which were organized mostly in Mindanao, the Working Group worked closely with the local chambers of commerce in major regional centres and targeted the CEOs of small-, micro- and medium-enterprises (SMMEs) as participants, especially in the awareness and orientation seminars.
The project intends to build the capacity of the Local Network to sustainably develop, maintain and update the website of the Global Compact in Philippines in order to facilitate communication with the subscribers and promote the sharing of cases, experiences and stories.
