ICT for Development in Samoa - PA Phase
The PA project provides the newly established Ministry of Communications and IT with exposure to the full range of issues in ICT related to government policy and programme formulation.
ICT for Development in Samoa
The programme will draw heavily on the findings documented during the PA phase and aim to balance and improve access to information for citizens of Samoa, facilitate their dynamic participation in policy level decision-making. This will be addressed through the development of several inter-related ICT4D programme components. Through these initiatives the issues of access, transparency and equity will be addressed. Amongst the areas to be covered, the following five ones were picked out as being critical in not only helping form the basis of actual ICT implementation at the grass roots level but would also be visible demonstrations of the utility of using ICT for development in Samoa.
ICT for Development Project in Niue
The development of ICTs for a small and isolated country like Niue is paramount in the Government’s plans to minimize distances between Niueans living overseas and their homeland, as well as increase their access to vital information about national issues and development plans.
Sub-Regional Project: e-Governance and Access to Information for Remote Islands in Niue and Tokelau
Innovative and dynamic e-governance initiatives will be supported by the UNDP Democratic Governance Thematic Trust Fund (DGTTF), for the Niue and Tokelau governments to help dissipate extreme difficulties in providing public information to citizens living in remote and widely dispersed island settings.
e-Government Initiative in the Cook Islands
The project focus on creating enabling institutional environment to suppor the maximum utilization of ICT for increased sector efficiency and reduction of barriers to accessing beneficial informaiton on the Internet for and by all the citizens.
ICT for Development Project in Niue - PA Phase
The PA phase has led to development of an ICT project that will focus on e-government, e-tourism, and e-learning, shaping the rehabilitation process and reversing the still evident problem of rapid out-migration through the use of ICT.
ICT Review in Tokelau - PA Phase
The preparatory assistance phase is the assesment phase of the e-governance project aimed to provide government of Tokelau with the recommendations on appropriate ways of meeting the future ICT needs of Tokelau and a future structure for ICT services in Tokelau.
