ICT for Development Project in Niue

The development of ICTs for a small and isolated country like Niue is paramount in the Government’s plans to minimize distances between Niueans living overseas and their homeland, as well as increase their access to vital information about national issues and development plans.

The project will focus on:

e-Government initiatives that will increase and improve public sector services to the population through better and more effective internal communications systems being put in place.

e-Tourism integrated into e-Government will increase the contribution of tourism to the economic grid

Computer literacy and capacity building initiatives that will ensure that Niueans at the community level have an alternative avenue for improving their working knowledge and practical skills in the use of the Internet and emailing to further their connectivity to the world around them and in particular, increase their participation in current events affecting their own country.
