There is a wealth of free resources available for individuals, NGOs, and businesses to use computers and the Internet. The problem is finding out about them. Programmes and Projects The Berkman Center
The Berkman Center's mission is to explore and understand cyberspace, its development, dynamics, norms, standards, and need or lack thereof for laws and sanctions. We help law students at Harvard Law School, lawyers, policy-makers and others who practice in this area, and the public at large, to learn about cyberspace issues. We pursue scholarly research and writing in the manner and spirit of a traditional academic think tank, anchored by the work of our faculty and fellows. We provide consulting on Internet-related matters to governments and NGOs with a view toward advancing the global public interest and in instances where our expertise can provide the highest value. We engage in targeted efforts to effect law reform where we deem such activism to be necessary, both domestically and internationally, to protect and foster openness on the Internet.
Programmes and Projects Bellanet International Secretariat
Bellanet promotes and facilitates effective collaboration within the international community, especially through the use of ICTs. While Bellanet does not offer grants or loans, it delivers its program through three main Program Lines: Online Communities, Knowledge Sharing and Open Development. Together they represent key approaches to building institutional and individual collaboration skills and maximizing the potential of ICTs to support collaborative development work. In addition to delivering programming through three main Program Lines, three important crosscutting areas are considered and woven into all aspects of Bellanet's work: Gender Equality, Capacity Development, and Monitoring and Evaluation.
Programmes and Projects Alliance for Community Technology
ACT builds value-adding alliances between the academic world, social investors, and community serving organizations (both individual, intermediaries and coalitions). It will focus especially on building complementary relationships between these entities – trying to create relationships of mutual-self interest which capitalize on the unique capabilities and missions of the various type entities.
