Why National Strategies are needed for ICT-enabled Development?
This paper explores the need for national strategies for ICT-enabled development and provides examples some of ways ICT is likely to impact social and economic development, illustrating the strategic significance of ICT for enabling national development and poverty reduction strategies. Also discussed is the rationale for designing national strategies for e-development (or e-enhanced development), and the options, objectives and major thrusts for such strategies in support of economic growth, poverty reduction and the Millennium Development Goals.
